The Coaches Corner would like to thank all of our readers for the great letters and comments! We would like to take this opportunity to talk about the types of letters we are able to respond to, and to unveil how we’re going to thank the readers whose letters we publish!
We occasionally get messages from people who are upset or surprised that their letter was not published–but keep in mind, we get numerous letters each week. However, some of the letters we receive we can’t respond to in a public forum as they contain questions regarding which medications are the best, or have certain side effects. Other letters we receive may not pertain to COPD or have already been covered in previous responses.
Generally, the letters we publish are of interest to the broader community. In most cases, we try to issue a private response when we cannot respond publically to your letter. Dealing with a COPD diagnosis is all about education and learning, as well as shared experiences, and these are as much a part of the total treatment as medications, diet and exercise! It is the educational part we hope to achieve through our Ask the Coach program.
Many of the questions we can get can be answered simply and personally through a call to our COPD Information Line at 866-316-2673. Our line is staffed by trained associates who also have COPD, and can offer both timely and helpful advice. If something comes up that you need an immediate response, the Information Line is a good resource to use!
This does not mean that we don’t want your letters…WE DO! If you have a question whose answer you feel would benefit our COPD Community drop us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. It is through the concerns you present that allow us to take the “pulse” of the community and keep ahead of emerging issues. Your letters need not be confined to just questions, they can also consist of concerns regarding access, what the foundation is doing regarding COPD issues, or what you would like to see us do! Also, please comment on letters that interest you and share your experiences. As we said, COPD is all about learning and sharing information!
Please include your contact information along with your letter, and if we are able to publish it, you will receive a free copy of Dr. Tom Petty’s book Adventures Of An Oxyphile2 and a copy of our Big Fat Reference Guide as our way of saying thanks!
Thank you again for all of your support! If you have any suggestions regarding the Coaches Corner, or would like to become a member of the Coaches Corner team drop us a line at email@example.com! We look forward to your questions and letters!
